18-20 Sept, 2012 Letter "G"

These first two pictures are two of the six numbers cards  The first one is to teach the spelling of the number one and they used plastic magnetic letters to accomplish this.  The second pictures two more kinds.  The blue one was used to place the  correct number of an item on the dots on the card  The third set of cards just had the child place that amount of items on the card.
The above is the story of the Three Little Billy Gruff.  I read the story to them, they had puppets of the each goat and the troll and they enacted the story a couple of times.  One time one of the children actually pointed to the pictures as the others told the story.  It was fun to see them act out the story.
Ivy had the snacks this week and the kids enjoyed the popcorn and apples.

The dragon chased the kids all around the playroom and had them screaming.  They used their shields and swords to kill the mean dragon
These templates of the letter "G" were sprinkled with gold and green glitter.  Messy but a fun way to teach the shapes of both letters.
Brigham gives his creation a thumbs up
Avery was a little coy about hers
Brook poses as she shows her picture
Then they took their curves and straight lines and made this letter "G"
Here is Brook with her letter

As Tuesday came to an end, we read The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle.  A great story

Thursday We had another way to make our letter.  Each was given a bingo marker and put dots around the letter.  Since we needed to finish the picture, they either used a gold crayon, or a green one.  They had a great time doing this activity.

Brook settled down and found she really could stay inside the lines to collor
Brigham showed that when he colored slow and in little lines, that he, too could be proud of his project
Avery had to wait til her spots dried before she could continue.

Cooper applied a little too much pressure and his really got wet, when he picked it up, the color dripped a little and he hadto wait for his to dry too

Sammy found that his color went through the paper, so we had a little mess to clean up, but his circles were really nice and round
We ended the day with a numbers bingo game
They got to use skittles as their game pieces, and a few disappeared between calls.
Winner of the game was Ivy, and she was very proud
We had show and tell and Brook brought her pink cowgirl hat
Brig proudly showed his new case for his cell phone

Avery showed her bag and told how hers was different than Coopers because it has only one strap that went over her shoulder.
They enjoyed the show and tell and then got their little carpet pieces to settle down for reading time.

Another day at PreK.  All in all it was fun, hopefully a learning experience.  A good ending to another week was shared by all!
